Hobbes - the run machine

There are some things that you look and feel, is there a limit, and here is a cricketing career that makes you feel the same, Sir John Berry Hobbs aka Sir Jack Hobbes. The least talked about member of the Wisden's best five of the 20Th century(along with Sir Donald Bradman, Sir Garfield sobers, Shane Warne, Sir Vivian Richards) is one of the most productive batsman of my grandfather's age, my dad's age and my age.

He was the first cricketer to be knighted back in 1953. Playing for England and Surrey he made as many as 61760 runs, ohhh myyy gaawwwddd, this guy must have run the whole continent twice to take all these runs. As a part time bowler he has the best figures of 7/56 as well. Created in 1932, he must have been the biggest motivation for superman.
